Of course some domain names being sold do have some very obvious uses which the seller may believe should command a higher consideration and in many cases this is true, therefore they may well wish to hold out for the right buyer
As a general rule domain names with the .com extension are more expensive than any others closely followed by the country sepcific variations such as .co.uk
